Kendra and Maliyah Herrin were born in 2002 as conjoined twins, sharing a kidney and a pair of legs. At age four, their parents made the difficult decision to separate them through a risky 25-hour surgery involving more than 30 specialists. The operation was a success, but recovery wasn’t easy—especially for Maliyah, who needed dialysis and later received a kidney from their mother.
Learning to live independently was a new challenge. The girls spent months in therapy, relearning how to move, walk, and live apart while staying emotionally close.
Now 22, Kendra and Maliyah have embraced life with courage and grace.
