After a month in a coma from a severe brain injury, a young police officer’s doctors made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support. Before doing so, they allowed his loyal K9 partner, a puppy named Lari, to say goodbye.
Lari hesitated at first but then sprang onto the bed, barking, licking his unconscious owner, and pressing his tiny body against him—desperate to bring him back.
Then something incredible happened.
The monitors suddenly beeped. His heart rate picked up. He blinked. The officer—against all odds—was waking up.
No one could explain it, but the presence of his faithful friend seemed to stir something deep within. Weak but alive, the officer’s eyes locked onto Lari, and for the first time in weeks, he seemed to smile.
One stunned doctor whispered:
“Looks like it wasn’t in vain that we let him say goodbye.”
