A viral Facebook post claiming a recent accident killed 34 people is completely false. It uses two unrelated photos from different crashes — one in Honduras (2017) and another in Venezuela (2023) — and presents them as a single tragedy.
The first image, showing a crushed yellow bus, is from a 2017 accident near Tegucigalpa that left 15 dead. The second, of a burning bus, is from a 2023 crash outside Caracas, where at least 30 died. Despite the tragedies being real, they are separate incidents, years and countries apart.
Adding to the deception, the post links to a so-called video of the crash but redirects to a weight-loss scam — a common clickbait tactic.
Fact-checkers warn this is a classic example of misinformation spread for clicks and ad revenue. Always verify viral claims before sharing — especially those using graphic images and sensational headlines.
Bottom line: The “34 dead” claim is fake. The photos are real — but used out of context.
