Mikayla Raines, Beloved Animal Rescuer, Dies at 29

Mikayla Raines, founder of Save a Fox and a passionate animal welfare advocate, has died by suicide at age 29. Her husband, Ethan, shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional video, attributing her passing to an intense campaign of online bullying.

Mikayla dedicated her life to rescuing animals, especially foxes from fur farms, starting her organization at just 20. Her compassion touched millions, building a loyal online community with over 2 million YouTube subscribers.

“She was never in it for fame,” Ethan said. “She lived every moment for the animals.” He described her as deeply empathetic, but also vulnerable—battling depression, borderline personality disorder, and the challenges of being autistic.

Despite her strength and selflessness, cruel online attacks—including from people once close to her—became too much to bear.

Mikayla leaves behind Ethan and their young daughter, Freya. Her legacy lives on in every life she saved, and in the hearts of those
