Maria José Cristerna, known as the “Vampire Woman,” holds the Guinness World Record for the most body modifications, with over 50 alterations — from tattoos covering nearly her entire body (including her eyes) to piercings, implants, and even a split tongue.
Her journey began at 14 with her first tattoo, but her transformation became a powerful symbol of survival after enduring a decade of abuse. For Cristerna, body art is not just decoration — it’s self-expression, resilience, and liberation. “The only way to escape from violence and abuse is by loving yourself,” she says.
While she embraces her extreme look, Cristerna warns others to think carefully before following in her footsteps. “It’s irreversible. You have to love it and be ready to defend it your whole life.”
Still, her passion hasn’t slowed down. She continues to add new tattoos, proudly declaring that she hopes to one day be 100% covered in ink — no matter what others think.
