A 32-year-old woman, identified as Mandy K., is recovering in hospital after being attacked by a polar bear at Berlin Zoo. She climbed over multiple barriers before leaping into the enclosure during feeding time, where one of the bears bit her repeatedly on her arms and legs.
Six zookeepers worked to distract the animals and eventually pulled her to safety. Officials later revealed she is a teacher struggling to find work, and the incident is believed to have been driven by personal distress. She underwent surgery for her injuries and remains in recovery.
