Comedian, actor, musician, and all-around creative force Martin Mull has passed away at 80 after a long illness, his daughter Maggie Mull shared. Known for his sharp humor, she lovingly joked, โHe excelled at every creative disciplineโand also did Red Roof Inn commercials. That wouldโve made him laugh.โ
Mull was best known for his roles as the bumbling Principal Kraft on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Leon Carp on Roseanne, and the unforgettable Gene Parmesan on Arrested Development. In 2016, he earned an Emmy nomination for Veep.
Beyond acting, Mull was a talented songwriter and musician. His comedic songs, including A Girl Named Johnny Cash, even landed on the Billboard charts, and he once opened for legends like Frank Zappa and Bruce Springsteen.
Friends, fellow artists, and fans remember him not just for his humor but for his warmth, creativity, and love of life. He is deeply missed by his wife, daughter, and all who knew him.
